Dear Student,

Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., a national historical service sorority was founded on November 12, 1922 at Butler University by seven African-American educators. The Sorority has exemplified sisterhood, scholarship and service through countless community endeavors and partnerships. At the national and local level, the Sorority embraces the vision of “Greater Service, Greater Progress” which provides guidance and direction in an effort to create a stronger and more positive community.

The Alpha Lambda Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority has provided service to the Greater Cleveland area for more than 75 years, with an emphasis on empowering women in all phases of their lives, and providing programming that has resulted in lifelong benefits for participating young girls and women.

In keeping with the sorority’s mission, the Alpha Lambda Sigma Chapter Scholarship Committee is honored to be able to provide financial assistance to deserving students with a vision towards achievement, scholarship and outstanding leadership skills. Each year the chapter presents book awards and or Scholarships to well deserving students. The awards presented are designed to assist students with educational goals who meet the requirements as set forth by the Alpha Lambda Sigma Chapter Scholarship Committee.
