Alpha Lambda Sigma Alumnae Chapter boasts a rich history in the Greater Cleveland community. Founded in June of 1942, Alpha Lambda Sigma was the first graduate chapter to be chartered in the state of Ohio and the first to host a Cotillion Ball in the city of Cleveland. With over 80 years of service to the Greater Cleveland Community, Alpha Lambda Sigma is known for programs such as its annual Youth Symposium, scholarship opportunities, Swim1922 and its donations to St. Jude, March for Babies and Neonatal units in area hospitals. Our health initiatives as well as voter registration, education and mobilization have had a profound impact in the Greater Cleveland community. We are Greater Woman striving for a Greater World.
National History
Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. is a professional association founded on the campus of Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana on November 12, 1922 (501(c)7). Guided by the vision of seven young educators, its purpose is to lead positive change and uplift communities through sisterhood, leadership, and service. For over 100 years, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority has exemplified unwavering diligence and compassionate service through local, regional, national, and international programs, and partnerships with strategic impact, initiatives, and calls to action.
