About Us

Alpha Lambda Sigma Alumnae Chapter boasts a rich history in the Greater Cleveland community. Founded in June of 1942, Alpha Lambda Sigma was the first graduate chapter to be chartered in the state of Ohio and the first to host a Cotillion Ball in the city of Cleveland. The chapter is approaching 80 years of service to the Greater Cleveland Community and is known for programs such as its annual Youth Symposium, scholarship opportunities, Swim1922 and their Golden Alert Town Hall Meeting. The chapter has a deep impact in the Greater Cleveland community.


National History

Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. is a professional association founded on the campus of Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana on November 12, 1922 (501(c)7). Guided by the vision of seven young educators, its purpose is to lead positive change and uplift communities through sisterhood, leadership, and service. For over 100 years, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority has exemplified unwavering diligence and compassionate service through local, regional, national, and international programs, and partnerships with strategic impact, initiatives, and calls to action.
